アートとファッションが融合したポップアップストア「DIESEL IN ART」を阪急うめだ本店にて開催!
ディーゼル アート ギャラリーによるグループ展や限定コレクションも登場。
 
ディーゼルは2024年3月1日(金)〜3月31日(日)の期間、阪急うめだ本店 3階 モード ポップ アップ サーカスにて「DIESEL IN ART」を開催いたします。
 
このポップアップストアのコンセプトは「Experimentation」（実験）。
 
ディーゼルがキュレーションする世界唯一のアートギャラリー、DIESEL ART GALLERYをフィーチャーした初めての大型ポップアップストアを舞台に、クリエイティブ・ディレクターのグレン・マーティンスによる最新コレクションとアートが融合した実験的な空間を展開します。
 
会場では、DIESEL ART GALLERYのアーカイブから6組のアーティストをフィーチャーしたグループ展を開催。

昨年12月、私たちのギャラリー、新虎プレスは移転し、新虎画廊として再オープンしました。新虎画廊は、“展示作品一点”に特化させたギャラリーです。正式オープンに先立って、ギャラリーを運営するアーティスト3人がそれぞれの個展を開催することになりました。今後、企画展や催しを開催していくにあたって、どのようにスペースが使えるか、まずは自分たちでやってみましょうという意図です。初回の12月はIMAONEの個展を開催し、今回はUSUGROWの個展となります。皆様のご来場をお待ちしております。
 
USUGROWからのコメント
 
展示作品一点のみ、というのは極端すぎて正直参っています。一点をじっくり鑑賞したり、理解を深めるという意図であれば、それにまつわるストーリーも同時に展示してもいいのでは、と思いました。一点を理解する為のガイドとして。自分はそんな感じで展示してみます。
 
今回は、インクのイラストレーション作品一点と、その制作にまつわる諸々を展示します。作品は今年2024年にリリースされる、あるバンドの12インチLPのジャケットアートワークの原画です。アンダーグラウンドでDIY的な音楽シーンにいる自分にとってこういった依頼の作品は、一枚いくらの（糊口を凌ぐための）ただのお仕事ではありませんので、自信を持って作品として展示しますね。
 
いつもオープンな気持ちで作品を制作し、展示していますが、今回は少しニッチな内容になりそうです。好きな音楽と、長年ファンでもあり友人でもあるバンドの為に、自分が楽しむ為に描いた作品とその記録です。
 
近年は作品を作るにあたって、世界や歴史の大きなうねりの中で何か残せるものはないか、やるべきことはないかと、途方もなく長い旅に出ている感覚がずっとありましたが、今作制作中は、自分は何が楽しくてこんなことを始めたのか、原点に帰るようないい時間が過ごせました。

We are delighted to announce the second solo exhibition at Shintora Gallery, following our grand reopening as Shintora Gallery in December of last year. Shintora Gallery, formerly known as Shintora Press, underwent relocation with a renewed focus on featuring only one masterpiece at a time.
 
Leading up to the official reopening, three artists who manage the gallery decided to showcase their individual talents through solo exhibitions. This initiative aims to explore the possibilities of the space and its potential uses for future group exhibitions and events.
 
In December, IMAONE held the inaugural solo exhibition, and we are excited to continue this series with a solo exhibition by USUGROW this time.
 
Comments from USUGROW
 
The idea of showcasing just one piece is interesting, but to be honest, it left me a bit puzzled. I thought it might be a good idea to exhibit the story behind the artwork alongside it, as a guide to help understand the piece better. Nevertheless, I’ve decided to go with this approach for the exhibition.
 
This time, I’ll be exhibiting a single ink illustration and various elements related to its creation. The featured artwork is the original drawing for the 12″ LP jacket of a band set to release in 2024. For me, being part of the underground DIY music scene, such commissioned works are more than just jobs – I proudly present them as pieces of art.
 
While I usually approach art with an open mind, this exhibition might be a bit niche. It’s a record of a piece I created for the enjoyment of both myself and a band I’ve been a fan and friend of for many years.
 
In recent years, amidst the vast waves of the world and history, I’ve often felt lost on a seemingly endless journey, wondering if there’s something I can leave behind or something I should be doing in my art. However, creating this piece brought me back to why I started in the first place – it’s been a good time to return to my roots.

The free magazine HIDDEN CHAMPION, which has previously featured interviews with USUGROW and collaborated on several projects, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a group show, in which USUGROW is also participating. Alongside the event, they will be releasing the HIDDEN CHAMPION ARCHIVES 2, an archive book that carefully selects and re-edits interviews and artworks published from 2014 to 2023. This book will also include interviews with USUGROW that were featured in 2015 and 2022.

My prints have been released through the ‘Artists for Maui’ project. This project aims to provide relief for the massive wildfire that occurred on Maui Island in Hawaii, benefiting the victims. 100% of the net proceeds will be donated for local relief efforts and to support the affected individuals.
 
I hope that everyone in the area can return to a peaceful everyday life as soon as possible. Whenever I hear news about earthquakes in Morocco or disasters in various places, it reminds me of the earthquake in Tohoku twelve years ago.

World Wide Walls, Studio Hale, and Aloha de Mele are thrilled to finally share some details on a very special project we’ve been eagerly working on. We have spent the last few weeks gathering works donated by creative friends and colleagues in Hawaii and around the globe to create a unique online gallery, where all proceeds will go towards Maui relief efforts and families who lost their homes in the August 8th wildfire
disaster. Artists and photographers from countries like Brazil, Australia, Thailand, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, Japan, Italy, Qatar, Singapore, and the United States have graciously provided a piece of their
work to our initiative. The online gallery will open this Friday, September 8th, and remain active throughout the rest of the year. We’ll have more details highlighting the creatives involved and the upcoming in-person print show to be released soon.

HIDDEN WALL™ について
「HIDDEN WALL™」は、『HIDDEN CHAMPION』と原宿のギャラリー「SORTone（ソートワン）」のコラボレーションとして、2020年12月に始まったミューラルアートプロジェクトです。SORTone（渋谷区神宮前2-14-17 @sortone_fort ）の屋外側面壁と左隣にある「Bar FORT」の上部に、約3カ月ごとに新しいアーティストのミューラルアートを設置すると同時に個展を開催し、街の景観を彩っています。

この度フリーマガジンHIDDEN CHAMPIONのご協力で個展を開催する運びとなりました。昨年、SHINTORA PRESSで開催した個展 “SPIRIT BEYOND BORDERS” をアップデートした展示内容となります。
 
また、今回の個展に併せ、新しい作品集”SPIRIT BEYOND BORDERS”がHIDDEN CHAMPIONから発売されます。
近年取り組んでまいりました”SPIRIT BEYOND BORDERS”シリーズ(ダンスをモチーフに文化の伝播をテーマに描いたキャンバス、ドローイング作品)をまとめた作品集となります。
また、コンテンツの一部として、本作品シリーズの大きなインスピレーションの一つとなったミュージシャン 𝗝.𝗔.𝗞.𝗔.𝗠. に音源制作を依頼、本作品集のサウンドトラックとしてDLコード、ストリーミングリンクを掲載しております。サウンドトラック音源はCDとしてもリリースされます。7/16には作品集とサウンドトラック音源のリリースパーティも開催されます。

「SORTone」の建物側面と、横にある「Bar FORT」の上部にミューラルアートを設置するプロジェクト「HIDDEN WALL」。
第7弾として、7月16日（土）よりアーティストUSUGROWの壁画作品の公開と、個展『DANCING i』を開催致します。
 
USUGROWはこれまで、繊細な点描を用いた女性のスカルや、花や植物を描くイラストレーション、オリジナル書体「コスモポリタン」を用いたカリグラフィーなど、唯一無二の作品を数々発表してきました。そして近年は“SPIRIT BEYOND BORDERS”をテーマとし、長い歴史の中で人々が育んできた民族舞踊の美しさを描いています。本個展ではそのテーマをもとに、「 i 」というオリジナル書体をモチーフに世界各地の民族舞踊を描いた「DANCING i」シリーズを発表します。「 i 」は私であり、identity（自己存在）、integrity（誠実さ）、independence（独立）を表しています。
文化は人々が生まれた土地で育まれ、また、戦争や民族の迫害、災害などによって新たな土地へ移動してもなお人々の情熱によって守られてきました。その国境を超えた“文化の伝搬”に感動したと語るUSUGROWが描く「DANCING i」シリーズを、ぜひご高覧ください。
 
また、本個展にて同テーマをもとに近年描いた作品を収めた作品集『SPIRIT BEYOND BORDERS』を発売致します。
7月15日（金）18:00よりオープニングレセプションを行います。みなさまのご来場をお待ちしております。

90年代初頭、パンク、ハードコア等のアンダーグラウンドミュージックシーンでのフライヤー製作からアーティスト活動を始める。イラストレーション、カリグラフィ、キャンバスペインティング、ミューラル等、手法、媒体を超え制作活動を展開。現在はオリジナル書体によるカリグラフィと舞踏をモチーフに、文化の伝播をテーマにした作品を主に制作中。
 
Usugrow started his art career by creating flyers in the underground punk and hardcore music in the early ’90s. He develops creative activities beyond methods and media as illustration, calligraphy, canvas painting, and mural. He is currently creating artwork with the theme of cultural diffusion with the motif of his original calligraphy and traditional folk dances.

For The Versus Project 2, the artist duo LAYER CAKE (Patrick Hartl and Christian Hundertmark/ C100) once again initiated an international exchange with 13 artists. The resulting artworks are not only powerful expressions of artistic communication at eye level, but they also break an iron law of the graffiti scene: Never paint over the work of another artist!
 
Over a period of two years, the 13 canvases traveled back and forth between the artists, crossing borders twice. The probably most important graffiti rule, the going-over, the aggressive crossing of the works of other graffiti writers, was not only suspended, but was even expressly desired. Thus, works were created in repeated reaction to the opposite, but not against each other – Versus – but with each other.
 
The resulting large-format canvas works will now be shown by URBAN NATION for the first time in its own project space at Bülowstraße 97 from April 10th, 2022.
