昨年12月、私たちのギャラリー、新虎プレスは移転し、新虎画廊として再オープンしました。新虎画廊は、“展示作品一点”に特化させたギャラリーです。正式オープンに先立って、ギャラリーを運営するアーティスト3人がそれぞれの個展を開催することになりました。今後、企画展や催しを開催していくにあたって、どのようにスペースが使えるか、まずは自分たちでやってみましょうという意図です。初回の12月はIMAONEの個展を開催し、今回はUSUGROWの個展となります。皆様のご来場をお待ちしております。
 
USUGROWからのコメント
 
展示作品一点のみ、というのは極端すぎて正直参っています。一点をじっくり鑑賞したり、理解を深めるという意図であれば、それにまつわるストーリーも同時に展示してもいいのでは、と思いました。一点を理解する為のガイドとして。自分はそんな感じで展示してみます。
 
今回は、インクのイラストレーション作品一点と、その制作にまつわる諸々を展示します。作品は今年2024年にリリースされる、あるバンドの12インチLPのジャケットアートワークの原画です。アンダーグラウンドでDIY的な音楽シーンにいる自分にとってこういった依頼の作品は、一枚いくらの（糊口を凌ぐための）ただのお仕事ではありませんので、自信を持って作品として展示しますね。
 
いつもオープンな気持ちで作品を制作し、展示していますが、今回は少しニッチな内容になりそうです。好きな音楽と、長年ファンでもあり友人でもあるバンドの為に、自分が楽しむ為に描いた作品とその記録です。
 
近年は作品を作るにあたって、世界や歴史の大きなうねりの中で何か残せるものはないか、やるべきことはないかと、途方もなく長い旅に出ている感覚がずっとありましたが、今作制作中は、自分は何が楽しくてこんなことを始めたのか、原点に帰るようないい時間が過ごせました。

We are delighted to announce the second solo exhibition at Shintora Gallery, following our grand reopening as Shintora Gallery in December of last year. Shintora Gallery, formerly known as Shintora Press, underwent relocation with a renewed focus on featuring only one masterpiece at a time.
 
Leading up to the official reopening, three artists who manage the gallery decided to showcase their individual talents through solo exhibitions. This initiative aims to explore the possibilities of the space and its potential uses for future group exhibitions and events.
 
In December, IMAONE held the inaugural solo exhibition, and we are excited to continue this series with a solo exhibition by USUGROW this time.
 
Comments from USUGROW
 
The idea of showcasing just one piece is interesting, but to be honest, it left me a bit puzzled. I thought it might be a good idea to exhibit the story behind the artwork alongside it, as a guide to help understand the piece better. Nevertheless, I’ve decided to go with this approach for the exhibition.
 
This time, I’ll be exhibiting a single ink illustration and various elements related to its creation. The featured artwork is the original drawing for the 12″ LP jacket of a band set to release in 2024. For me, being part of the underground DIY music scene, such commissioned works are more than just jobs – I proudly present them as pieces of art.
 
While I usually approach art with an open mind, this exhibition might be a bit niche. It’s a record of a piece I created for the enjoyment of both myself and a band I’ve been a fan and friend of for many years.
 
In recent years, amidst the vast waves of the world and history, I’ve often felt lost on a seemingly endless journey, wondering if there’s something I can leave behind or something I should be doing in my art. However, creating this piece brought me back to why I started in the first place – it’s been a good time to return to my roots.
